The Suggestion Box: New Brunswick

Jules and I already did northern NB and the Acadian shore, but Jules, Christina, and I are heading back into New Brunswick this afternoon for Fun at Fundy! Our plan includes the Hopewell Rocks and then we are staying in Fredericton tonight, so let me know if there’s anything we shouldn’t miss.

The Suggestion Box: Nova Scotia

We already did the Cape Breton trail on our way to the ferry, but if you have suggestions for the rest of Nova Scotia, drop them here! We’re heading to Halifax today, staying in the area tonight, and then we’re leaving tomorrow by way of the Bay of Fundy.

The Suggestion Box: Newfoundland

I’m a little late with this, since I’ve already seen some of the Burin and Avalon Peninsulas, but if anyone has any great recommendations for St. John’s, I have this afternoon in the city before we head to the ferry.

We had fish & chips on our first night in the city, and an O’Brien’s boat tour and Signal Hill are already on the schedule, but feel free to leave a comment if there’s anything else I shouldn’t miss.

The Suggestion Box: Prince Edward Island

I am a bit late with this because I drove across the Confederation Bridge at about 5 this evening, but if you have suggestions for what we should do in PEI tomorrow, leave ’em here! We are willing/planning to drive around the whole island, though we did do downtown Charlottetown today, so we may not head downtown again tomorrow in the Canada Day madness.

The Suggestion Box: Ontario

I forgot to post this yesterday and we already crossed into Ontario this morning, but the good news is that I’m spending a week in the province that I visit most often. Lots of places to visit and people to see. But if you have any must-see sights in Ontario, especially ones that you think I might miss, let me know!

So far, planned stops include Thunder Bay (here now), Sault Ste. Marie, Parry Sound, Ottawa, Kingston, and Toronto. With a side trip to London to pick up Jules, but London is one of my least favourite cities and I’ve already been there quite a few times, so we’re not doing anything there besides breakfast at Cora’s.

The Suggestion Box: Manitoba

There are photos and a new blog in the works, but first things first. Tomorrow, I head into province #4: Manitoba. I’m driving from Regina, SK to Winnipeg. Then on Sunday, heading east from Winnipeg into northern Ontario.

Ideas for Manitoba? Anything? I hear there’s a big lake, and a friend from Winnipeg gave me a few suggestions for the capital city as well.

The Suggestion Box: Saskatchewan

I’ve spoken to multiple Saskatchewanians (Saskatchewanites?), and so far, the best suggestion has been to take photos of the sky. Saskatchewan, according to a girl working in a candy shop in Victoria who grew up in SK, has beautiful skies.

I’ll be knocking out the whole province tomorrow, with a quick swing through Saskatoon, a stop in Moose Jaw, and a night in Regina. Right now, I’m most excited about the giant moose in Moose Jaw, so drop your suggestions here.

The Suggestion Box: Alberta

This is a bit late, since I’m crossing into Alberta tomorrow, but if you have any ideas for places I should see in Alberta, drop your comments here!

I was already planning to visit Banff, Lake Louise, Calgary, and Edmonton, and my Kelowna area hosts have also suggested a stop in Canmore. The planned route is to drive from Kelowna to Calgary tomorrow (with a possible stop in Canmore), then to hit Banff & Lake Louise (& Canmore if I don’t see it tomorrow) on Wednesday, then from Calgary to Edmonton on Thursday. Stops along the way are much appreciated, as are suggestions for sights to see (and great eats) at each location.

The Suggestion Box: British Columbia

I’m still working on a page detailing the angle I’m planning to chip at for my thesis, but for now, I thought I’d post my first Suggestion Box. I’m planning on posting on of these for each province. Since I hit British Columbia first, and I arrive in just 8 days, BC is up first.

I’ve read my guidebooks, but in general, guidebooks are written by people who earn salaries by traveling and probably have expense budgets and the like. My budget is considerably less padded. So for people who live in BC, or visitors to BC that have found gems, drop your suggestions here. What should I see, do, eat, photograph, etc?

I’ll be visiting Vancouver, Victoria, and the Kelowna/Okanagan area on this trip, but feel free to leave suggestions for northern BC as well, if you have them. It’s never too early to start thinking about future trips.
